Application of traction to glass fibre-based reinforcing bar used on masonry structure by fitting tube to bar before traction is applied

The procedure consists of drilling a hole (7) in the structure (5) to be reinforced, fixing one end (1b) of a glass fibre-based bar (1) in the hole, fitting a tube (2) to the other end (1a) of the bar and sealing it with an epoxy resin adhesive (3). A traction is then applied to the tube by a system of plates (9, 18, 29, 33), rods (15, 16, 27, 28) and a strain gauge (38), and the rest of the bar is sealed in the hole before being cut off between the tube and the sealed portion.
