PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a silver mirror (silver fog) in a black-and-white photographic dry plate, film or printing paper preserved over a long period of time and to restore the discolored or faded black-and-white photograph. ;SOLUTION: The surface of a dry plate or film is wiped with an adsorbent cotton sufficiently impregnated with ethyl alcohol. After drying, the silver mirror part of the surface of the dry plate or film is rubbed off with adsorbent cotton impregnated with a small amount of a silver mirror removing solution and the surface is washed with running water and air-dried. The film surface of photographic printing paper is cleaned by washing, impregnated with water, hardened and washed, an image forming discolored silver compound is bleached with a bleaching agent and then washing, the decomposition of the residual bleaching solution, the exposure and development of silver halide formed by the bleaching, the neutralization of a used developing solution, the decomposition of the residual silver halide on the printing paper, the washing of a fixing solution sticking to the surface and the decomposition of the residual hypo are carried out. After compounds remaining on the printing paper are nearly thoroughly removed, the printing paper is air-dried and made smooth by pressing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
