PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the torque of a rotating body in a non-contact manner with a low electric power.;SOLUTION: A sensor using a strain gage 106 is disposed on the inner circumference of a straining body 100 that is a hollow cylinder part having, on its both ends, a driving-side flange 101 and a driven-side flange 102 for fastening it to the rotating body and having a prescribed wall thickness and diameter between the two flanges. The sensor converts a physical quantity corresponding to the torque acting on the cylinder part into an electric signal. The electric signal is further converted into a light signal by a light emitting element 113 and transmitted to the fixed side, and the light signal transmitted from the rotating body side is made incident on the side surface of an optical fiber 115 provided on the fixed side. The light made incident on the side surface of the optical fiber 115 is transmitted to an end face of the optical fiber. The light reaching the end face is received and transduced into an electric signal by a photoelectric transducer 131, thus providing the measured value of the torque.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
