PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reinforce an existing column by one hoop bar worked into a spiral bundle by disposing a spiral hoop bar around an existing column at a prescribed interval from the outer peripheral face of the existing column, and filling a gap between the existing column and the spiral hoop bar with mortar. ;SOLUTION: A spiral hoop bar 1 is worked into a spiral bundle in a rectangular loop along the outer periphery of an existing column 51, and is disposed in a close vicinity of the outer face of the existing column 51. An opening face of the spiral hoop bar 1 is disposed in the direction along the vertical face in opposition to the outer face, and an end bent at a right angle for use in winding start is fixed in a hole drilled in the lower end column face of the existing column 51. Furthermore, rotation is performed in the direction X where the bundle is unwound in this state, the circumference of the existing column 51 is rotated in the direction shown by Y, and winding is performed around the existing column 51 one loop by one loop. A gap between the already set column and the spiral hoop bar 1 is filled with mortar, and seam welding of the conventional ring-like hoop bar is made unnecessary.
