Earthquake-proof Reinforcement of Deteriorated Frameworks of Existing Wooden Houses

A practical way of earthquake-proof reinforcement of existing wooden houses is proposed. In actual existing wooden houses that need repair or reinforcement generally have some deteriorated structural members. Considering this, we propose a practical way of reinforcement of structural wooden frameworks including replacement of deteriorated parts of structural members with new materials, installation of shear resistant components, and reinforcement of anchor-joints. This study focuses on wooden frameworks deteriorated at the sills and columns of external walls of Japanese conventional post and beam constructions.
