PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an equipment for inspecting the joint of lead in which an unjointed lead can be distinguished accurately from a jointed lead. ;SOLUTION: Under a state where a resin board 2 jointed to the lead 31 of a lead frame is not separated from the lead frame, it is set in a press 16 and the lead 31 of the lead frame is pressed from above and a circular illuminator 12 is lighted under control of a processor 14. An image pickup unit 11 picks up an image including the joint of lead and an image data thus obtained is converted through an A/D converter 13 into a digital image signal. The processor 14 binarizes the image data corresponding to the joint of lead such that a part brighter than a predetermined level is left and extracts the image of an unjointed lead 31 regularly reflecting the illumination light. If the size of an extracted image is larger than a predetermined size, a decision is made that the lead is deflective.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
