PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an activator and an activating method that can activate the antigen activity of a glycolipid antigen, and further, to provide an anti- glycolipid antibody measuring method and a measurement reagent kit that can measure an anti-glycolipid antibody in a specimen accurately with high sensitivity.;SOLUTION: This activator for a glycolipid antigen comprises a substance having a surface active function and/or a protein substance. This method for activating a glycolipid antigen comprises bringing a glycolipid antigen into contact with the activator. This method for measuring an anti-glycolipid antibody in a specimen is a measuring method wherein the anti-glycolipid antibody in the specimen is reacted with the glycolipid antigen, and is characterized in that the glycolipid antigen, after it is brought into contact with the activator, is contact-reacted with the anti-glycolipid antibody in the specimen.
