PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steelmaking method in a converter having long service life of a refractory by slag coating. ;SOLUTION: In the combination blown converter operation, an absolute secondary pressure P_o of a top-blown nozzle supplies oxygen in the range of 151-250% to a suitable expansion absolute secondary pressure P_op of this nozzle and after decarburizing, the furnace is straightly stood in the condition of remaining the slag in the furnace and one or more kinds of gases among nitrogen, Ar, CO or CO₂ are injected with P_o in the range of 70-150% to P_op. Further, powder containing magnesium oxide in the range of 0.3-3Kg/Nm³ mixed to the gas is injected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
