PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily refining gallium from gold-containing gallium in a high yield, and at the same time collecting gold from it.;SOLUTION: This refining method is characterized by adding magnesium to the gold-containing gallium, mounting it in an atmosphere of 50°C for 12 hours, then charging it to hot pure water of 50°C, stirring it, finishing the stirring, cooling a mixture of the above melted gallium and the hot pure water to solidify the gallium, and separating it to obtain refined gallium. The method for collecting gold is characterized by collecting a hydroxide of magnesium, which has caught gold in water, and dissolving the hydroxide of magnesium in an acid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
