PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternative of a bone which imitates an inorganic mesh work structure of a biomedical hard tissue and a production method thereof. ;SOLUTION: In the bone alternative and a method of making thereof, the inorganic mesh work structure of a vital bone is measured precisely to generate data and a negative mold of the inorganic mesh work structure is produced based on the data. The bone alternative is made by modeling from a biomedical material to be replaced with bones invivo using the negative mold. The bone alternative thus obtained is taken into the metabolic cycle of bones to allow the derivation of a vital bone having normal organizations and functions harmonized with mechanical characteristics of the inorganic mesh work structures of surrounding vital bones. This enables efficient production of the bone alternative with the shape and the internal structure the same as those of the vital bone corresponding to a prosthetic part. The bone alternative can be utilized ideally not only for treatments in the orthopedics, plastic surgery and oral surgery but also as a carrier for the cultivation of bone tissues.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
