PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a chemical substance in a short time, independent of a kind of using equipment, and irrespective of a difference in a retention time.;SOLUTION: This method comprises a process for preparing a database registered with a mass spectrum, a relative retention index, and a working curve by an internal standard method, after measuring the mass spectrum of an eluted component eluted from a chromatograph column at a fixed interval, a process for measuring a mass spectrum by the same manner a measuring sample added with an internal standard to find a relative retention index of a peak in a chromatogram, and for retrieving by reverse search whether the mass spectrum of the registered component registered in the database is included within a fixed range of the sample chromatogram containing the relative retention index thereof or not, and a process for finding a peak area ratio thereof to the internal standard when the presence is judged at prescribed probability, and for calculating an existence amount of the component based on the working curve registered in the database.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
