The invention discloses a porous, non-particulate matrix permeable to convection which is capable of interacting with components of liquid phases, e.g., in adsorptive separation of materials, heterogeneous catalysis and solid phase synthesis. The matrix consists of a microporous, non-particulate carrier with a layer of polymer grafted onto the surface. The polymer can preferably be removed completely from the liquid phase by solvation and carries the groups or ligands which confer the capacity for both solvation and interaction. The invention also discloses a process for producing these matrices as well as their use.
