PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fold a space structure when launching into space and develop and easily assemble it in space.;SOLUTION: This space structure has a recessed film surface material 1a of a round shape with a base shaft 4 as the center, hollow type outside and inside annular reinforcing material 2, 3, radial reinforcing materials 5a, 5b and an annular holding material 10 and a radial holding materials 11a, 11b which are made of a shape memory material are fixed on the back surface, and the base shaft 4 and a fitting shaft 6 are provided in the center part. When launching into space, the reflection mirror 1 is wholly folded into a small shape so as to be able to be loaded on a rocket. After launching, gas is filled in the respective reinforcing materials 2, 3, 5a, 5b and the structure is developed. Additionally, the annular holding material 10 and the radial holding materials 11a, 11b are heated and expanded for holding the shape, and wrinkles in the mirror surface of the film surface material 1a are taken out for improving smoothness.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
