PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red and black dichroic thermal recording material having small edging of low temperature color developing around a high temperature color developing part. ;SOLUTION: The red and black dichroic material comprises a support, two types of red developable and black developable dye precursors and a thermal color developing layer containing color developable compound for color developing in reaction with the precursors at the time of heating. In this case, the color developing at the time of holding 80°C for 10 sec has lightness index L' value of 70 or more of Lo=*, ao=*, and bo=* table colors, chromaticness indices ao=* of 10 or less, lightness index Lo=* value of color developing at the time of holding 110 for 10 sec of 10 or more, chromaticness indices ao=* value of 20 or more, lightness index Lo=* value of 40 or less of color developing at the time of holding 160 for 10 sec, and chromaticness indices ao=*' value of 10 or less.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
