PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To matche a color of data outputted from an input/output device with a color of data received by the input/output device when a plurality of input/output device such as a color fax are interconnected by a network. SOLUTION: A server 1 is connected to the network, a storage section 20 stores data such as a color chart required to acquire input/output characteristics of the input/output device. The server is provided with an input/output characteristics acquisition section 10, a device characteristics retrieval section 30, and a color conversion processing section 40. The input/output characteristics acquisition section acquires the characteristics data based on the data in the storage section and stores the data to the storage section. The device characteristics retrieval section retrieves corresponding characteristics data from the storage section when the characteristics data of a transmission/ reception object device of the color data are not attached to the received color data. The color conversion processing section converts the color data so that the color of the color data before input is the same as the color of the data after output based on the retrieved device characteristics data.
