PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new protein capable of increasing salt resistance of plants, a nucleic acid encoding the protein and plants in which salt resistance is increased by introduction of the nucleic acid.;SOLUTION: A new salt resistance-increasing gene which exists in Kandelia candel (L.) Druce which is one kind of mangrove is found and the base sequence of the gene and the amino acid sequence encoding the gene are determined and it is confirmed to increase salt resistance of other plant by introducing the gene into other plant. The protein of the present invention is a protein having a specific amino acid sequence or a protein having an amino acid sequence in which one or a plurality of amino acids are replaced or deleted or one or a plurality of amino acids are added or inserted to the amino acid sequence and can increase salt resistance of plants.
