PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that high-speed processing can not be performed by a ray casting method for rendering an adaptively sampled distance field and its usability is bad.;SOLUTION: The adaptive sample distance field of a graphics model is converted to a triangle model. The adaptively sampled distance field includes surface cells storing distance values having corresponding gradients. A vertex is assigned to the center position of each surface cell. While a predetermined constrain is satisfied, the vertices of neighboring surface cells are connected to form triangles. According to the distance value and corresponding gradient of the vertex, each vertex is moved to a new location in a single step, and the triangles are substantially conformed to a surface of the model.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
