PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a font generating device which can easily generate a font of characters written by a user oneself and easily add a handwritten character to the font afterward at need. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with an additional character storage means which stores the character code of the character to be added, a character constitution component storage means which stores a correspondence table of character codes and constitution components constituting characters, a registered character storage means which stores a correspondence table of the character codes of characters registered in a handwriting character font and constitution components constituting the characters, a registered character image storage means which stores character image data of the characters registered in the handwriting font, an additional character entry form image generating means which generates an entry frame where the additional character is entered and a standard character font as image data of a character entry form, an identical constitution component character retrieving means which obtains a character code having been registered by obtaining constitution components of a character, and an identical constitution component character image composing means which obtains the character image having been registered and arranges it nearby the entry frame of the character entry form.
