PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen absorbing alloy free from physical defects, having a better capacity than before, particularly high durability, and furthermore, improved physical properties, or each averaged physical property, because conventional hydrogen absorbing alloys are not still satisfactory, although optimization of the characteristics has been tried through various means. ;SOLUTION: The surface treatment method for the hydrogen absorbing alloy comprises treating the hydrogen absorbing alloy with acid, then adding ammonia and metal salt to the suspension liquid of the hydrogen absorbing alloy, and further adjusting pH of the suspension to alkali. The objective hydrogen- absorbing alloy is obtained by combined use of acid addition, ammonia addition, and alkalization.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
