PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for trend prediction which can accurately predict a next-period trend item by using the history of access to an item and a person who is sensitive to trends.;SOLUTION: Time-series data of access frequencies of object items to be analyzed which have the access frequencies more than a specific cumulative access frequency are moved and averaged and a trend-condition meeting item extraction part 3 extracts as trend-condition meeting items which meet the trend conditions that the gradient of the moved and averaged access frequency is larger than specified and the access frequency per unit time is larger than specified. Then a person who is accessing a trend-condition meeting item is extracted as a trend watcher and an item that trend watchers are accessing while more than a specific number of trend watchers are accessing items which do not meet the trend conditions is extracted as the next-period trend item.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
