PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the data size of a triangular mesh without generating any independent vertex, independent ridge, thin plate face, non-manifold vertex, or non-manifold ridge.;SOLUTION: A volume model including four kinds of voxels, that is, vertexes, faces, inside part, and outside part is generated as for a target triangular mesh (a step S1). Then, a centroid vertex is generated from the volume model (a step S2). Then, the vertexes of the triangular mesh are condensed into the centroid vertex so that data reduction mesh is generated (a step S3).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
