PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control reception power desired on a reception side from a transmission side without loading an AGC circuit on an optical receiver.;SOLUTION: In an optical communication system, optical signals outputted from an optical transmitter 11 are transmitted to an optical receiver 13. The optical transmitter is provided with a signal processing part 11C receiving level signals fed back from the optical receiver and a level adjusting part 11B adjusting output power of the optical signals of the optical transmitter so as to fix the reception power of the optical signals received in the optical receiver based on the level signals. The optical receiver is provided with a level signal generation part 13A generating the level signals reflecting a value of the reception power and feeding them back to the optical transmitter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
