PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extract of Lyophyllum decastes (Fr.) Sing. ;SOLUTION: Lyophyllum decastes (Fr.) Sing. is an arificially cultivated mushroom from 'Kemeyama No. 1' as the original strain, and the active ingredients of extract thereof have the following properties: (a) Color and appearance: yellowish brown powder, (b) Chemical ingredients: saccharides content: 30 to 90%, proteins content: 5 to 15%, (c) Solubility: water soluble, and the extract have blood sugar lowering activity, The extract of Lyophyllum decastes (Fr.) Sing. of the present invention lowers blood sugar in animals being onset type-II diabetes, and shows remarkable effects for improving symptoms.
