The phantom is a device serving to replace the object of the X-ray mammography - the mammal gland, in the process of control tests of the mammography X-ray apparatus. It can be used for the comparison of different mammography pieces of equipment, as well as for periodic testing of the condition of its technical state. The phantom is made of organic matter, has semi-round shape and is multilayered. If a dosimeter is available, it is used to determine the absorbed dose in the mammal gland without any irradiation of the patient. It contains a plate with introduced details about the subjective assessment of the quality of the image, for measuring (with densitymeter) of the reference optical density, veil, image contrast, monitoring of the technical state of the mammography apparatus - levelling of the radiation field, control of the discharge and the anode voltage, setting of the exposure and conditions for film developing. 4 claims, 3 figures
