"DIESEL ENGINE LUBRICANT COMPOSITION AND, SOY-INDUCED VISCOSITY CONTROL METHOD OF DIESEL ENGINE LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS". This invention relates to a diesel engine lubricating composition comprising a basic matter, a dispersant and an antioxidant comprising an oil-soluble trinuclear organomolybdenum compound of formula (I): Mo ~ 3 ~ S ~ x ~ - (Q ) wherein x is from 4 to 10 and Q is a core group, which may be a ligand, and at least one other compound selected from a phenolic compound and an amino compound. The composition is capable of controlling the viscosity of the lubricant in the presence of soot and retaining the dispersibility of the dispersant. The compositions of the present invention minimize engine wear and undesirable exhaust emission caused by incomplete combustion of vehicles using diesel engines and lubricants therefor. The combination of antioxidants performs better in controlling soot-induced viscosity increase than with individual compounds.
