The cow milking device influences at least one animal related treatment depending on the value of a parameter which is an indication of the expected waiting time for an animal wanting to visit the device. The milking duration time is shortened if the waiting time is long. The milking device is a robot which stops milking of the animal when the milk flow has come below a certain threshold value.
