The bag (7) is held in a bin (9) which is airtight apart from the air inlet and outlet holes (11, 13). When a rubbish bag with an inlet hole (23) for particle-laden air is present inside the bin, the space (21) inside the bag is in communication with the bin cavity via this hole. The bin includes a means for holding the bag in position, an outlet hole for air to leave the bin and a suction hole for particle-laden air to be sucked into the bin from the surrounding atmosphere. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Fixing device for holding a bag in position inside the collection device; and (2) Connection device (39) for connecting a vacuum cleaner hose to the collection device.
