DRIVE WITH A CONTROLLER FOR A LIFTING GEAR OF A HOIST, IN PARTICULAR A COMPACT HOIST

A drive with a controller for a lifting gear of a hoist, in particular a compact hoist,of a type having a drum for winding and unwinding a load-bearing memberconnected to a load-receiving member, includes an electric motor, having atleast one stator winding and one rotor winding, which has two terminals and isconnected in series with the stator winding to an AC power supply, for drivingthe drum, whereby the lifting speed and the lifting direction can be controlled bya user via a control unit. To provide a drive for a lifting gear, especially for aninexpensive small hoist, which does not coast after the lifting motion is switchedoff and allows an emergency shut-off under load as well as a rapid reversal ofthe lifting direction, the electric motor is formed as a universal motor. Inaccordance with the invention, each preset lifting speed is associated with avalue of an AC output voltage of the AC power supply, and the series-connected windings can be disconnected from the AC power supply andthereafter can be short-circuited after the two terminals of the rotor winding arecommutated.
