The machine is for sewing buttons on clothing and has a pincer assembly for holding down the button and a counter button template for aligned holding down and centering of the button and the counter button in relation to the sewing head (1). The assembly is displaceable permitting sewing of a first pair of holes in the button and counter button. Subsequently, after the displacement, sewing occurs of a second pair of holes in the button and counter button, without their alignment being lost.
