The present invention relates generally to a method for the treatment and/orprophylaxis of infarction-related cardiac injuries and disorders. Moreparticularly, the present invention contemplates a method for the treatmentand/or prophylaxis of myocardial infarction and heart failure and/or relatedconditions. The method of the present invention is practised by theadministration of a derivative of angiotensin I. In a preferred embodiment,the angiotensin I is des-Aspartate-angiotensin I. The present inventionfurther contemplates compositions for use in the treatment and/or prophylaxisof infarction-related cardiac injuries and disorders such as but not limitedto myocardial infarction and heart failure.
