A method of stabilizing a shattered window pane (14) includes the steps ofapplying a layer or body of unifying material (20) to an exterior surfaceand/or an interior surface of the shattered window pane (14), bonding thelayer of unifying material (20) to the window pane (14) to form a cohesivemass therewith, and leaving the cohesive mass in place for a desired length oftime to stabilize the window pane (14). The cohesive mass may be removed fromthe window frame (16) as one or more integral and unitary pieces. A patch maybe used with the unifying material to cover holew in window pane (14).
