PURPOSE: An interactive optical data storage medium capable of obtaining additional contents, an apparatus for reading the same, and a method for obtaining additional contents are provided to simply and safely obtain additional contents through a network by reading the interactive optical data storage medium. CONSTITUTION: A method for providing additional contents includes the steps of a user's purchasing and using an interactive optical data storage medium having recorded basic contents and encoded additional contents(600); connecting to a network by an interactive function provided from the basic contents if the user has an intention of purchasing additional contents while using the basic contents with a reading apparatus(610); executing an authentication procedure for providing the additional contents between an additional contents service provider and the user through the network(620); the provider's providing an encryption key to the reading apparatus(630); and deciphering the additional contents by using the encryption key in the reading apparatus and providing the result to the user(640).
