PURPOSE: A batch type wastewater treatment apparatus using biological filtering process and a wastewater treatment method using the same are provided, which can biologically remove phosphorus in wastewater by mechanism of release and luxury uptake of phosphorus of microorganism membrane, and can remove organic contaminants, suspended contaminants, nitrogen and phosphorus in a single reactor efficiently. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a plate(32) positioned above the base plate(31) to form a bottom chamber(33) together with the base plate(31); a discharge hole(60) formed at the base plate(31) for discharging water and sludge in the bottom chamber(33) for back washing; a filtration media layer(50) filled on the plate(32), wherein the top layer forms a base section of a top chamber(62); a wastewater inflow device(40) connected to the bottom chamber(33) for wastewater feed; an air inflow device(35) for air supply to the filtration media layer(50) on the plate(32); an air diffuser(42) positioned above the plate(32) at a distance to have a plurality of air supply pipes(44); an air inflow device(34) for back wash air supply to the bottom chamber(33); a water inflow device(34) for back wash water supply to the bottom chamber(33); a plurality of nozzles(46) inserted into the filtration media layer(50) from the plate(32); a treated water discharge device(48) for treated water discharge; a recycling water inflow device(57) for treated water recycle to the bottom chamber(33).
