PURPOSE: A method for inhibiting abdominal pain by controlling a T-type calcium channel is provided, thereby providing analgesia without adverse effects. Also provided is a method for screening an analgesic by assaying a T-type calcium channel inhibitory activity. CONSTITUTION: Abdominal pain is inhibited by controlling a T-type calcium channel selected from the group consisting of alpha1G, alpha1H and alpha11T-type calcium channels. The analgesic for abdominal pain contains the T-type calcium channel inhibiting agent selected from the group consisting of mibefradil and nickel ions(Ni¬2+) as an active component. The administration of the analgesic into a human body acts on alpha1H and alpha11T-type calcium channels, thereby inhibiting the function of the alpha1H and alpha11T-type calcium channels.
