PURPOSE: Provided are a wastewater treatment apparatus and a treatment method with high removal efficiency of organic material, phosphorous and nutritive salts such as nitrogen by using an improved microorganism contact oxidation process. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises an equalization basin(10) with a wastewater inlet pipe(11); a first aeration tank(20) with a wastewater transportation pipe(211) connected to the equalization basin(10), a compartment for separating the first aeration tank(20) into a first aeration section(21) and a first contact section(22), a hole formed on the compartment so as for wastewater to run therethrough, a diffuser installed at a lower portion of the tank(20) in the first aeration section(21), and a contact bed for treating the wastewater by microorganism; a second aeration tank(30) connected to the first contact section(22) of the first aeration tank(20) through a passing hole and divided into a second aeration section(31) with a diffuser and a second section(32) by a compartment with contact bed; a settling tank(40) for settling sludge from the treated water, outflow, of the second contact section(32); and a sludge tank(50) connected to the settling tank(40) by a sludge withdraw pipe(51). The method comprises the steps of collecting wastewater into an equalization basin, transporting the wastewater from the equalization basin to a first aeration section of a first aeration tank, oxidizing organic material and NOx by aeration in the first aeration section, transporting the aerated wastewater to a first contact section with microorganism contact bed, removing organic material and denitrifying the aerated wastewater in the first contact section, transporting the first treated water of the first contact section to a second aeration section of a second aeration tank, oxidizing remained organic material and NOx contained in the first treated water in the second aeration section by aeration, removing organic material and denitrifying the water aerated by the second aeration section in a second contact section, settling sludge from the second treated water of the section contact section in a settling tank, and discharging decant water and sludge out.
