EXTRACT OF PLEUROTUS ERYNGII AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME FOR FACILITATING BONE FORMATION AND FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF BONE DISEASES SUCH AS OSTEOPOROSIS

PURPOSE: An extract of Pleurotus eryngii and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same extract for facilitating the bone formation and for prevention and treatment of bone diseases such as osteoporosis are provided. CONSTITUTION: An extract of Pleurotus eryngii capable of facilitating the proliferation of osteoblast and inhibiting the proliferation of osteoclast is prepared by using a solvent selected from water and alcohol, wherein the water extract of Pleurotus eryngii is prepared by heating a mixture of Pleurotus eryngii and water; the alcohol extract of Pleurotus eryngii is prepared by using 5 to 100% ethyl alcohol or 5 to 100% methyl alcohol. A pharmaceutical composition for facilitating the bone formation and for prevention and treatment of bone diseases such as osteoporosis contains the extract of Pleurotus eryngii as an active ingredient.
