PURPOSE: An extract of Rehmanniae Radix and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same extract for facilitating bone formation of children and for prevention and treatment of bone diseases such as osteoporosis are provided. CONSTITUTION: An extract of Rehmanniae Radix capable of facilitating the proliferation of osteoblast and inhibiting the proliferation of osteoclast is prepared by using a solvent selected from water and alcohol, wherein the water extract of Rehmanniae Radix is prepared by heating a mixture of Rehmanniae Radix and water; the alcohol extract of Rehmanniae Radix is prepared by using 5 to 100% ethyl alcohol or 5 to 100% methyl alcohol.
