Syndiospecific metal catalyst - comprises a metallocene-ether inorganic salt, three-component adduct of formula Ar2C[Cp-9-Flu]MeQ2.RXR'.nMe'Q2/n (I); Ar = opt. substd. aryl ; Cp = cyclopentadienyl opt. substd. by 1-12C alkyl, alkoxy, silanyl, aryl(alkoxy), OH or halogen ; Flu = fluorenyl opt. substd. by 1-12C alkyl, alkoxy, silanyl, aryl(alkoxy), OH or halogen ; Me = gp. IVB element ; Me` = alkali(ne earth) metal ; Q = halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, condensed aromatic ring or heterocyclic gp.; R, R` = 1-6C alkyl ; X = O or S ; and n = 1 - 2. Also claimed are (i) the prepn. of (I), and (ii) the prepn. of syndiotactic polyolefins using (I) as the main olefin polymerisation catalyst and a co-catalyst chosen from methyl aluminoxane, alkyl aluminium/methyl aluminoxane mixt. or organoboron cpds.
