Illuminating diode comprises an inorganic phosphor; a silicon component with one side partially or completely made from a 1-6C alkyl oxide which can react with the phosphor to change the surface properties of the phosphor and another side having a functional group selected from epoxide, 1-6C alkyl, phenyl or amino; and an organic adhesive which reacts with the functional group. Illuminating diode comprises: (1) an inorganic phosphor; (2) a silicon component with one side partially or completely made from a 1-6C alkyl oxide which can react with the phosphor to change the surface properties of the phosphor and another side having a functional group selected from epoxide, 1-6C alkyl, phenyl or amino; and (3) an organic adhesive which reacts with the functional group. The phosphor can be uniformly mixed with the adhesive to produce a low residue. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of an illuminating diode comprising preparing an inorganic phosphor, reacting the phosphor with a silicon component to change the surface properties of the phosphor and mixing the modified phosphor with an organic adhesive.
