Holder (1) for adjustably fixing the support of a balcony railing comprises a U-shaped bracket (2) with two downward-facing arms (21) attached with its base on the under side of a balcony plate. The fixing end (30) of the support has a cylindrical outer contour (32) at least over part of its outer periphery. The bracket arms have two planar parallel inner surfaces (22) which in the fixed state receive the fixing end of the support. A clamping profile (4) arranged between the fixing end and each bracket arm has an inner contour (42) corresponding to the cylindrical outer contour of the fixing end and an outer contour (41) corresponding to the inner surface of the bracket arm. The bracket arms, clamping profiles, and fixing end are fixed against each other in a friction-locking manner by at least one clamping element (25). Preferred Features: The clamping profiles are joined together to form a U-shaped profile. The clamping element is at least one clamping screw passing through the bracket arms, clamping profiles and fixing end.
