Neurostimulator has an application device (2) with at least an application electrode and an electronic circuit (4). The application device is a cat whisker electrode that comprises a channel (40) and wires. The device is at least partially implantable in a patient. One end extends into the patient where a wire or wires can be extended from the channel to stimulate a nerve. The wires are insulated from each other within the channel so that a different electrical signal can be applied to each electrode. INDEPEPENDENT CLAIMS are made for a neurostimulator with magnetic, mechanical, chemical or thermal coupling for generation of a stimulus, a control device for a neurostimulator and a method for transferring data from a control unit to a neurostimulator.
