Aluminum tolerance gene (I) for inducing and/or increasing aluminum tolerance in crop plants, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method for isolating (I); (2) genetic engineering method for increasing aluminum tolerance in plants; (3) recombinant plasmid or vector containing (I); (4) protein (II) that comprises an ATP (adenosine triphosphate)-dependent transporter (sequence reproduced); (5) protein (IIa) that comprises an inosine-5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase; and (6) transgenic plants that have integrated stably one or more (I).
