A material for gypsum dental models surface fluorescing at 360-420 nm comprises (A) hydraulically-binding calcium sulfate hemihydrate (70-99%); (B) a non-binding filler such as calcium carbonate (0-25%); (C) an extender comprising a retardant, accelerator, crystallizer, nucleating agent or consistency regulator (0-5%); (D) an organic (or preferably inorganic) pigment (0-5%); and (E) an (in)organic agent fluorescing at 360-420 nm (0.05-10%).
