The protection unit (1) has three breaker paths (a-c) coupled together via a differential triggering device and with defined triggering characteristics. The triggering characteristic of one breaker path is different from the triggering characteristics of the two other breaker paths. A compensation device compensates a triggering difference between this path and the other two paths. AN Independent claim is also included for a protection arrangement.
