The device has two additional discharge current paths formed between connection poles of an intermediate circuit capacitor and for discharging the capacitor during separation of circuit breakers (19, 20). Discharge switches (28, 29) are separately arranged in the current paths to close the current path. Each switch is coupled with the associated circuit breaker so that opening of the circuit breaker causes closing of the respective current paths by the switches. A trigger device (17) actuates the circuit breakers based on a state signal (18) of an electric vehicle (1). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an electric vehicle comprising a high-voltage intermediate circuit (2) a method for producing a secure operating condition of a high-voltage intermediate circuit of an electric vehicle.
