The device (100) has a discharge control unit (120) controlling an active discharge circuit (140). A power electronics module (130) provides a supply voltage to an electrical drive unit of a vehicle. The electronics module is provided with an intermediate circuit capacitor to unload a high-voltage intermediate circuit (131). The discharge circuit actively discharges the high-voltage intermediate circuit of the power electronics module during deformation of the vehicle. The discharge circuit is arranged outside the electronics module and integrated in a high-voltage battery (150). An independent claim is also included for a method for discharging a high-voltage active-system of a vehicle.
