A method and system is described, by means of which materials, the chemical, in particular arsenic organic chemical warfare agents and metal scrap, can be disposed of. These materials are, in a manner known per se, by means of a capacitor, pyrolysis reactor (1), in which the chemical warfare agents in the case of an elevated temperature in an inert atmosphere to be at least partially reduced, wherein a part of the pyrolysis products in solid form at the surfaces of the metal scrap is deposited. The material is to be disposed of by the pyrolysis reactor with the passage of the capacitor (1) a fluid bed of finely divided, which provides the added to a large surface area bodies. On these bodies in the pyrolysis reactor is likewise capacitor (1) a layer of solid pyrolysis products, so that on the metal scrap, the percentage of the pyrolysis products, which can be recovered in the final analysis is not, is considerably reduced.
