Safety system (6) for preventing the unwanted switching on of a function comprises an electric circuit with interacting first and second switching arrangements as well as at least one safety device. First and second switching arrangements have first, second, third and fourth (11-14) switches. The safety device is only changed to a first state in which the function can be activated when the four switches are activated in a given sequence. The invention also relates to a household device such as a microwave oven with a locking door that is controlled using an inventive safety system.
