The invention relates to a method for the production of textured superconducting thick films especially made of an oxidic superconducting material such as SE barium cuprates, whereby at least two starting materials are contactingly arranged next to each other in the form of the superconducting thick layer to be formed on a support material. The at least two starting materials consist of compositions which at least partially melt when subsequently subjected to heat treatment and which at least partially form a superconducting material. The at least two starting materials form a gradient with respect to at least one quality variable such as the concentration of a component. The device undergoes heat treatment involving at least partial melting of the starting materials and formation of a superconducting material from at least one part of the starting material. The device is then cooled isothermally with crystallization of the superconducting material and textured growth of the crystals occurs parallel to the direction of the gradient of the quality variable. The invention also refers to biaxially textured superconducting thick films and structures which can be obtained according to the inventive method.
