The 'rotor' (3) of the linear motor (1) has an equilateral triangular cross-section and incorporates permanent magnets and sensors. The 'rotor' can slide with respect to the 'stator' which is shorter than the 'rotor'. Its outer sides (8) have threaded bores (9) to accommodate fastening screws. The vertices of the triangle are flattened to make narrow additional faces (11).
